Sunday Fun-day

Flea markets, vintage sales, garage sales, I love them all. My ideal weekend would be to hit up every store, alleyway and junk yard digging for stuff. One gal’s toss-outs are definitely another’s treasure. I’m fascinated by the past and love making old things new. It’s a good thing vintage finds are so ‘in’ right now. My heart literally skipped a beat when I saw signs this morning in my beloved Queen Anne for a vintage sale. Following the arrows I stumbled upon a literal jackpot. What might have appeared to be an old decrepit, poorly kept (okay, not kept at all) house, was a landmine of art, furniture, vintage apparel and décor. I was in heaven. The seller was on her game too. She cleverly curated her back yard and basement – she clearly knew her audience. Artistic displays proved she had done her homework – she knows vintage is haute. I was eyeing these amazingly rustic blue-toned mason jars (who knew old jam containers would be so coveted) when she walked up behind me to say she had sold the majority of her collection to couples who would be using them as wedding décor. She also had turned several old Patron bottles into gas ‘lanterns’ – great for alfresco ambiance! Think I’m going to try that out – Cinco de Mayo is next weekend after all. I was also in love with this little orange drawer set, it would be perfect for jewelry. I’m not the only one with an eye for old detail … What’s your favorite find and where did you get it?
